Skyelark Walkabouts

Image
Travelling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, I wanna  love you, but I have to go; this is just the way it is. This island is about arrivals and departures. The curious come and go, and the resilient stay. Our extended stay continues and it remains a remarkable one- counting sheep, counting on friends and family and counting on God to see us through the weather, the winds and the day-to-day remains remains of the Summer.. As we advance confidently in the direction of our dreams, we meet with a success unknown in common hours. Fair Isle remains to us other-worldly. With all of our travels sailing around the world----I don't know why they call it planet Earth, because it is made up of lots more ocean.  The geography reminds me of Alaska, Hawaii, The Arctic Circle(Nord Kap), Norway, Scotland and ...who knows what's next, as we live the ecstatic life---. The definition of ecstasy is that you are not doing your ordinary everyday routine....essentially stepping int...

Time Millionaires

Image
It took Sarah and me more than two decades, but we eventually made our  first time-million. Since that landmark moment, We've kept a future goal in mind- to be time-billionaires, where our net worth  is measured by control over the hours and days and in the amount of learning and pleasure we get from each week. There are two questions a man must ask himself: The first is 'Where am I going?' and the second is 'Who will go with me?' If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you are in trouble So glad I am with Sarah, my true North always pointing me in the right direction.

Red Lobster

Image
Shelfie- hanging out with the most important  commercial crustacean in Northern Europe Skyelark makes Sheep's Eyes They named a restuarnt chain in America after this crustasian Sarah proudly displays the catch of the day. Ordering lobster in a restaurant or serving it at a party is considered the height of gastronomic sophistication. But that hasn't always been the case – lobster has worked its way up from humble beginnings to become a gourmet delicacy. In the 18th Century, lobster was considered a highly undesirable food that wealthy families steered clear of. The crustacean was so abundant along the east coast of the US that it was used as fertiliser and served in prisons. Kentucky politician John Rowan quipped: "Lobster shells about a house are looked upon as signs of poverty and degradation."  It was the development of railways in the US, which transformed lobster into a luxury. Train operators decided to serve lobster to their wealthy passengers, who were unawa...

A Decade Of Archipelagos

Image
The Power of NOW verses The Power of NEW You may have heard of Micronesia, an archipelago in Oceania. But very few people have heard of the similar country Amnesia, as it has all but been forgotten. Feels like that sometimes here on Britain's most remote inhabited island. But isn't that the charm.  The above picture is an example- In 2011, in the South Pacific Isle of Pines is an island in the archipelago of New Caledonia, and today in the Sub  Arctic  Shetland Archipelago  on Fair Isle. What a difference a decade makes- it's all about today, after all, isn't that what we have got left-today. Love that word-archipelago-a chain or group of islands scattered in the ocean. Sometimes called an island chain.

Skyelark & Sarah On The Beach

Image
There’s nothing quite as synonymous with summer as the beach, even if you are in the sub-Arctic North Sea remote island of Fair Isle. That is just the calming sound of water, but being physically near the beach, hearing the crashing waves and feeling the cool breeze of the ocean is somehow therapeutic. Staring at the green cliffs, or the ferocious North Sea actually changes our brain waves frequency and  puts us into a mild meditative state . For Skelark, she is more energized and engaged...and ran off the lead with such zeal. Here are two videos, the first from last night, at the beach, and the other, from this morning walking with the little doglet down our one paved road.
